OUR MISSION
The mission of Glastonbury A Better Chance is to offer young minority men of demonstrated ability, good character and need, the opportunity to obtain an excellent education in the town of Glastonbury.
OUR VISION
Each year, Glastonbury ABC welcomes up to 8 scholars into a supportive, structured home environment and connects them with a transformative educational experience at Glastonbury High School, one of Connecticut’s top-rated public schools. As one of 19 community-based programs affiliated with the National A Better Chance organization, we share in a nationwide legacy of expanding access to opportunity. We believe that brilliance thrives when opportunity meets belonging — and we’re here to make that connection possible.

OUR LEGACY
Founded in 1974, Glastonbury ABC is one of the oldest community-based ABC programs in the country. Over the past five decades, we’ve welcomed more than 80 scholars from cities across the East Coast — including New York, Boston, and Philadelphia — into our home and our hearts.
Our alumni have gone on to attend prestigious colleges and universities, lead in their communities, and carry forward the values of equity, excellence, and service.

From the 1970s onward, Glastonbury ABC scholars have paved the way for lasting impact.
THE BALDWIN HOUSE
Located just half a mile from Glastonbury High School, the Baldwin House is more than a residence — it’s a foundation for growth. Here, scholars live together in a supportive environment with adult supervision, academic guidance, and the space to build lifelong friendships.
COMMUNITY ROOTED, FUTURE-FOCUSED
Glastonbury ABC is powered by a volunteer board of directors and supported by generous town residents, host families, and local partners. Together, we create a network of care that helps our scholars thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally.
We’re proud to be affiliated with the National ABC program, yet fully self-sustaining through local fundraising, grants, and individual gifts.
"The house directors, tutors, host families, and board members created a supportive family environment where every student felt valued and encouraged… Glastonbury ABC — I am forever grateful.”

“We were a host family for the Glastonbury ABC program and it was by far one of the most rewarding things we have done as a family… Very proud to be associated with this wonderful organization.”
-Jocelyn Penniston, Host Family
“The ABC House wasn’t just a place to stay — it became a second home… I learned discipline, responsibility, and how to live independently — skills I know will help me succeed at UConn and beyond.”
